Extensions: All existing clients of TAI are on a filing extension.

While this grants an additional 6 months to file, tax liability is still due April 15th, 2025. If your tax return has not yet been filed, you may submit an Extension Payment towards your 2024 tax liabilty.

Key 2024 Tax Year Filing Deadlines:

  • The IRS filing system reopened on January 27, 2025 and is accepting e-filing of tax returns until October 15th, 2025. Initial closure date was November 30, 2024 @ 5:00pm est.

2024 Tax Year Deadlines:

Thomson Accountants requires receipt of your COMPLETE information 4 weeks prior to any deadline to guarantee on-time filing.

  • Sub S (1120S) and Partnership (1065): Tax Returns or filing of extension was due March 15, 2025. Tax returns on extension must be filed by September 15th, 2025

  • Personal (1040) Tax Returns or filing of extension was due April 15, 2025. Tax returns on extension must be filed by October 15th, 2025

  • Trust and Estate (1041) Tax Returns or filing of extension was due April 15, 2025. Tax returns on extension must be filed by October 15th, 2025

  • Corporation (1120) Tax Returns or filing of extension was due April 15, 2025, or 4 months after the end of the company’s fiscal year. Tax returns on extension must be filed 6 months from the original IRS filing date.

  • Final estimated tax payment for 2024 tax year due January 15, 2025.

  • First estimated tax payment for 2025 tax year due April 15, 2025

IRS Highlights for the 2024 Tax Year Filing:

  • Standard deductions have increased to $29,200 for married couples

  • $21,900 for heads of household

  • $14,600 for single filers

  • Annual exclusion for gifts increases to $18,000.

  • Residential clean energy up to 30% of the amount paid for qualifying property. The credit is nonrefundable, so the credit amount you receive can't exceed the amount you owe in tax. More details here

  • Child Tax Credit- $1,700 for children under 17 years old at the end if the tax year.More details here
